First match fitness, drainingly warm weather and a newish line up, all against a team that played a league above last year, could have made for an uncomfortable start to the season.  Instead, the opposite happened - everyone played their part in a commanding 4-1 win over Blueharts 3s.

Blueharts struggled to get the ball past our midfield, particularly Lauren earning her player of the match.  When the ball did penetrate through,  Stef, Anne-marie, Lana and Babs were solid and Vicky’s energetic keeping snuffed out their attack.  Most promisingly, our offensive play (particularly our passing) between midfield (Lauren, Alice, Becca) and forwards (Terri, Charlie, Molly and Kate) created numerous goal-scoring opportunities, including trading up to earn penalty corners. The goals came first from Molly who is specialising in the tap in, followed by Alice who struck the ball beautifully off a penalty corner.  Charlie scored the other two goals: First, a tap in from a ball worked round the top of the D during a corner and the second showing great composure, one on one, to shoot the ball past the keeper.
All in all, a great start to the season.
