The Ladies 3's hosted Hertford 4's at Tring Sports Centre on a dreary looking Saturday afternoon. With Chops away on a Uni visit, it was Rebecca Wells as vice on her captains debut...

Berko started the match strong and attacking, which for a side with 6 defenders in it wasn't bad going! Some great passing between Helen, Megan, Charlotte H and Sophie created early chances down the left. Emily, Zoe and Sophie H all pushed forwards brilliantly down the right wing, putting the Hertford defence under constant pressure.
We had a couple of short corners awarded from some smart play onto their feet in the D, and converted one with a strong strike from Sophie L following a rebound shot from Charlotte.
We continued to apply pressure and were unlucky with a few shots going just wide. With the Hertford attack struggling to get past the halfway line due to some great blocks by Sophie H, Trish, Annamarie and Rebecca, we felt sure our second goal would come soon.
After some more great charges and link up play down the right wing, Emily passed to Ophelia who turned on a player and gave a soft pass to Megan, who ran in the D determined to get the ball in the net. But after a strong shot was deflected by a defenders stick high into the air, it was Helen Savage who came storming in and made a Serena Williams style smash from above head height, straight over the keepers head and into the goal!! 2-0 to Berko!!
After a buoyant half time talk we agreed to keep the play aggressive. Hertford had the same idea, and soon our firm but fair umpires, Stef and Charlotte D, gave a green card for a bad stick tackle from Hertford. A couple more greens followed as Hertford became increasingly frustrated at not getting through our midfield and defensive lines. A couple more shorts for Berko followed, and Annamarie was unlucky not to score when a great strike was denied by their keeper.
