Berkhamsted Ladies 3's put in their best performance of the season so far as they beat top of the table Blueharts 2-0 away on Saturday.

With availability short across the ladies section Gail Skelton, Jenny Musgrove and Emma Walker were all called up from the 4's to help out and all three of the new players were very impressive! 32 seconds into the match the Berko after a great tackle the ball flicked up and struck Rebecca Wells on the head. An egg quickly appeared and Rebecca had to resign from the match leaving the team with 11 players and no subs. Spurred on and wanting to win for Rebecca, who was being looked after by Deb Walker in the dug out, Berko dominated possession for the first quarter. Sophie Lawrance was impressive in midfield and Emily Alderson was causing problems for Blueharts with her speed down the right wing. The opening goal came after a lovely passing move that started in defence. Gail found Emma who surged forward and passed to Sophie. Sophie then found Emily on the right and Emily sped past her defender before crossing for Charlotte to bundle the ball into the net. Berko  continued to attack searching for s second goal but the keeper saved further chances from Charlotte and Kate Hedge. With 2 minutes to go, Blue Herts were awarded 2 penalty corners on the trot but a combination of Liz, Gail and GK Chops kept them out.
Into the second half and Blueharts had a ten minute spell when they could have equalised but Berko defended for their lives. Chops dived here and there to make several good saves and Liz was pushed over at one point whilst clearing the ball during an almighty goal mouth scramble. Berko withheld  this brief period of pressure and then went and won their own short corner. The ball was slipped to Emily and she smashed her shot into the net, later telling us that it was her first ever goal!!! Fantastic. There were chances either end but the score finished 2-0 and was a deserved and impressive victory. Jo Fisher stepped in at centre back after Rebecca was injured and performed bravely and energetically in her place.
Player of the match went to Emily for her first ever goal and impressive right wing play. But it was an awesome team performance.
