On a cold and very wet Saturday afternoon the ladies 1s were keen to get started and get warm!

The game was a little delayed so a quick game of handball kept our minds focussed and team spirits high! We also had our lucky mascot cheering us on so we were all raring to go!
On the back of 3 wins, another was the focus and the team started out with great pressure and pressing on the oppositions defence. West Herts got ahead first with a well executed short corner. We kept our heads up and determined to get one back, it didn’t take long and we managed to nick in a quick goal from open play by Anneke Gainer. We continued with our short passing and focusing on keeping control of the ball up to half time where we stood at 1-1.
Talk at half time was just continue with what we were doing, the goals would come! The play was all in their half and we were so unlucky at times with several near goals just passing the wrong side of the posts. Finally it came with a roaring run from Esme down the right, keeping control superbly of the ball and swiftly moving past several players and then sending a cracking pass to Tash at penalty spot who deflected into top left corner. What a goal!!! Definite contender for goal of the season!
Now it was just about keeping calm, keeping the ball under control and not panicking. A couple of shorts against us kept us on our toes but our defence as always showed their resilience with some great saves by Vicky, quick running by Steph and some fearless on the line saves by Ann!
Game finally finished at 2-1 to Berkhamsted; a really enjoyable game despite the weather! Tight at times but we stuck in and gave 100% to the end.  Thanks to our very cute lucky mascot and great support on the side line, we were very glad we could give them a win!
Man of the match - Fearless Anni B! Saved not one but 2 goals off the line!
