It was a damp and grey day for hockey and our captain hadn’t quite adapted to the Daylight Savings Time yet, which meant we were off to a very unusual start to our game.
However, it definitely didn't dampen our spirits and we started strong by getting the first goal in the back of the net with a strong goal from Tash. However, SW did not let that set them back. They responded strong and put three past us before half time. But just before the half-time whistle we had a short corner opportunity, in which a great team effort and slip passes resulted in Hannah scoring a second goal for us. Closing the gap before the half-time talk. Both teams started the second half of the match with fire in their bellies, with a lot of end-to-end running from the mids, great through-passes to the forwards and great line running from Hannah! However, it was now time for out defence to show the opposition what we were made of. Babs made so many goal scoring saves, even off the goal line itself. On times it was difficult to tell if she was playing hockey or rounders! Either way, it was a great sport to watch. We made many breaks up the middle in which one strike from Terri only needed a slightly deflection from Tash and it went straight past their keeper for our 3rd goal to even the score. We fought hard as a team to ensure we didn’t let the score slip away and did well to hold them to a draw. Yet again the 2s played a very good quality game and everyone gave a great performance again against a strong team. MOM: Babs. Match report: Mari
