Ladies 2s travelled to Bishops Stortford for the late shift 4:30 push back this week.
Off the back of a strong performance last week with lovely passing and movement, we faced a much more ‘intense’ opposition this week who made it difficult for us to play to our strengths. From the off, Stortford pressurised the ball carrier in numbers making it hard for us to settle into our style of play, instead reverting to their much more scrappy and frenetic approach. Lots of battling all across the pitch and frequent turnover balls meant it was a long, hard match for the travelling team. Stortford were more effective at converting their chances, and despite numerous close shots and some short corners, we suffered a 5-0 defeat, not reflective of the levels of possession or chances in the game. The work rate across the team was excellent, as evidenced by the spread of MOM votes across players. Overall though it was a disappointing result which we will be keen to move on from and improve next week. MOM Sophie Lawrance for her sterling efforts in midfield, tackling back strongly and breaking down the opposition’s play so often.
