It was a challenging game for the ladies 3's, requiring highly mathematical calculation and scientific consideration. Sophie Hart led the warm up incorporating percentiles and insisting linear formation. Captain Jo shared the plan for the day, however all calculations were lost when we realised we merely had 10 players for the game. Shock and horror required us to switch to the right side if our brains, this called for creativity! Especially after noting the youthful and skillful forward line of Saffron Walden. Two minutes before start, Kate Goodwin enlisted in the Royal Berko Defence Force, leaving Kate Hedge (two days post facial surgery and no, it wasn't botox or a nose job) and quick-legs Laura to fight the good fight in the forward line.

The game started with Berko's RDF (Royal Defence Force) being put under pressure. Some older birds showing new skills meant fantastic switches and back passes, using the width, composed tackles and keeping up with the opposition's young players.
The first goal from Kate Goodwin came from one of those backline switches, enabling Annamarie to drive the ball into attack, passing to Rosey who ran into the D and slipped it to Kate who secured the goal.

The second goal was a quick break from Rosey, demonstrating a perfect 360° roll around the goalie, putting us in a 2-0 lead. Now that's what happens when you attend training!

Berko was on fire in the first half and Laura secured her goal and allowing Kate G to claim the assist.

The opposition came back strong in the second half and Berko was required to defend with all their might. Jenni ensured their centre forward was marked out of the game and Sophie and Jo demonstrated fantastic partnership down the right. Quicksilver Sophie was clearly not going to be outplayed or outrun by anyone. Maddy was first runner during our short corners and shot out like a bullet adding the pressure.

As for our very own Maddie Hinch, aka Sammie Pavlick, the dives and runs were absolutely superb!

Apart from the huffing and puffing towards the end of the game, the ladies held on to their clean sheet and walked away with a 3-0 win.

Player of the game votes went to Rosey, Kate and Annamarie with Annamarie earning most votes on this occasion.
