Berkhamsted began tentatively knowing full well they were facing an experienced St Albans opposition.

True to form they played a typical first ten minutes very defensive and not playing their own game! Emma P, Jo, and Debs managed to contain the relentless back and forth down the wings using Faye to clear the ball up to the half's.  15 minutes in we conceded our first penalty corner which was smashed into the goal from the top of the D, we were 1-0 down.  In quick succession St. Albans were awarded a second penalty corner which was slotted away too bringing the score to 2-0. This jolted Berkhamsted into action and raised the tempo of their game seeing a more attacking play down the centre and across the park.  Some great one-twos between Molly and Abi slotting the ball through to Sarah, Becca and Ali to run onto.

The second half saw a positive start from Berkhamsted who by now had definitely warmed up.  Megan's defensive skills were put into play curbing the speedy St Albans right winger attacks.  Emma W's movement down both the left and right wide channels led to some charging runs threatening the St Albans goal. The pressure was on Berkhamsted throughout the match and were kept in it on a number of occasions by some great saves by Vicky holding the score to 2.0. On the day the better team won but Berko made it easier for them than they should. Onwards and upwards next week. MoM was jointly awarded to Vicky and Abi.
