Buoyed up by an excellent draw last week against Shefford & Sandy, the M3s fielded a bare eleven against a thirteen man squad from Harpenden.

Berkhamsted soon started to dominate the game with much of the play in the Harpenden half. Saleem threaded a deft pass into the D allowing Dubenski to deflect into goal to take the lead. Kaup’s relentless left half running was rewarded when he picked up a loose ball to slot in Berkhamsted’s second. Harpenden came back with a surprising score against the run of play which raised the tempo for both teams. However, Berkhamsted followed skipper Goodwyn’s example of maintaining a high work rate despite having no substitutes to rest weary legs. Harpenden’s hopes for a draw were dashed when Dawood caught Harpenden knapping with a great solo goal from self passing a free hit just outside the Harpenden D – once again proving ‘you snooze, you lose’. A great 3-1 result and another valuable three points for the M3s.
