The sun was blazing, a picturesque woodland surrounding and a pumped up M3s ready to replicate the fine form from the previous week.

Unfortunately it wasn't to be, we lost 3-0 to St Albans 6, albeit a closer game than the final score reflected.
Early on, we lost our stalwart defensive-mid, Peachey, to injury, rendering no substitutes for the rest of the game. First blood was drawn when St Albans scored a fortunate deflected shot to make it 1-0. The first half was fairly well balanced with opportunities for both teams in terms of short corners, goal attempts and possession. Both team's reliable defensive line kept the excitement to a high, with everything still to play for.  The second half started with more venom and urgency for M3s, with more exciting play down the right side by Toby, The Birthday Boy, and Louis displaying their silky skills. James, at left back, linked well with Dubi down the wing, making numerous runs to attack the opponents D. Other momentous opportunities came from our attacking 'veterans' (by experience in hockey), Steve and Ben. Steve struck a glorious angled tomahawk shot, from the top left hand side of the D, so well that Robbo would also have been proud of. Ben had a 1-1 chance but both of these opportunities were thwarted by their keeper, unfortunately.  With about 15 mins remaining the body blows arrived. St Albans made it 2-0 from a counter attack and then minutes after, the third goal came from a set piece. Admittedly, these goals were well finished by the opposition.
MoM was awarded to James with noteable MoM mentions also for Toby, Rik and Bric. Another exciting season ahead!
