Berko 2 Bishop Stortford 8

It is always difficult writing a match report after a heavy defeat, especially when players come off the pitch describing it as one of their worst performances ever.

The game actually started off with the mens 3s  having more possession and territory  than the opposition. However, we seemed unable to penetrate the Bishop's Stortford 3s d, with the final pass either being played to the defender's strong side, or the defender stepping up in front of the Berkhamsted attacker.

Bishop's Stortford's first goal came slightly against the run of play fifteen minutes into the game from a defensive error that presented them with a simple two on one, which they clinically finished. Their second goal came after good close control in the d from their centre-forward, making himself space to slot in from ten yards. The half ended with Bishop's Stortford scoring a third from a short corner.

Despite a rollocking at half-time, we were unable to turn things around. Indeed, as players tired and the game became more open, it turned into a horror show, with Bishop's Stortford scoring five more goals in a second half littered with individual errors from Berkhamsted players. There were only a handful of bright moments, with Mark Robinson finishing off a good team move to score at the far post before getting a second from a straight strike at a short corner.

Whilst it would tempting to forget this game and move on, it is now two defeats out of two for the mens 3's, and worryingly in neither game have we been able to match the quality shown by the opposition. Unless there is significant improvement, we are going to have a long hard season battling against relegation.
