The 2s had their second game of the season on Saturday, against Bluehearts. We largely had the same body of men as the previous week, but welcomed back Nick and Will.
The game was a physical one, which our young guns handled with real maturity. The shoreline was 0-0 at the interval and we entered the second half with eager anticipation. Despite several short corners, we failed to convert the chances. In the last quarter, Bluehearts finally managed to break our ranks and scored. Despite the work-rate being maintained and a last-minute set of short corners, we were unfortunately unable to pull the game back to a draw.
Lots of positives though, with Louis gaining a well-deserved MoM - mainly for his support in tracking back from the front and supporting the midfield. The theme that was commented on the most during the neon-themed fines session was that the youngsters in the side had indeed ‘grown’ in stature since last week. It has been refreshing to see their progress and we look forward to next week’s game in Potters Bar.
