Well, a bit of a strange game. In lovely weather the skipper could have stayed at home for his suntan top-up, but he was in Spain and we had to battle on.
The match opened quite evenly with both sides having decent attacks but unfortunately we made two defensive mistakes which gifted Luton goals. Berkhamsted prompted by Ben, Ed and Tim looked like they could get back in the game but whilst the chances were spurned Luton scored two more. Finally at the end of the half Ed put his son Charlie through and he calmly finished to make the score 1-4 at half time.
The half time talk was about how we could get back into the game and for 20 minutes this looked possible as Berkhamsted won a few short corners, one of which ended in the net but rightly disallowed as it was slightly too high. A few more chances came and went and then the older legs in midfield started to tire and the youth of Luton took over. With Brett the goalie hampered by injury and not able to move as well as usual and an exposed defence Luton ran riot in the last few minutes adding a further 5.
Sometimes a scoreline indicates a thrashing, this was rather different. Never mind there is always next week!
