The game started well for Berko with a goal in the first couple of minutes from Waleed following some crisp early-game passing. Stevenage then woke up a bit and came back with an equaliser after a prolonged period of possession.
The game swung backwards and forwards leaving it 3-2 to Berko at half time. There was some really good short passing go on across the middle with Alex, Ed, Simon, Steve and Andy all involved.
As has been the case a bit this season, a loss of concentration by both teams in a second half inevitably led to a couple of cards on both sides and an erosion of the skills that had been seen early on
A goal for either side in the second half led to the result of a satisfying win for the club. The interesting question though is how much better the score-line could have been if we had been able to keep the high level of performance that we saw in our best periods, without allowing these to fade into a less than pretty display that seemed to sap the confidence and free-flowing play from the team. To be positive about this, this can be something we all work on for next season….
