Berkhamsted Mens 1sts welcomed bottom of the table Blueharts on Saturday. Both sides fate already decided the order of the business was to finish the season in style with a comprehensive win.

The game began in somewhat of a familiar slow fashion with both sides enjoying periods of possession. It was the Blueharts Goalkeeper who was called into action first, a foot in the D led to a Berkhamsted penalty corner expertly injected by Tom, the ball whipped around and a shot fired in on goal superbly saved. Blueharts then broke the length of the field, helped with a little confusion and foot in the Berko D were awarded a their own penalty corner. Jay known for his cat like reactions low down to his right was flumoxed when Blueharts shot left taking him and Swampy by surprise and hitting the post before swampys quick reactions cleared the rebound.
It was Blueharts who threatened again entering the D from Berkos left firing a shot just wide of the right hand post. Berkhamsted responded with a number entries into the opposition D and time after time the Blueharts Keeper made a string superb saves. At Half time Berkhamsted discussed moving the keeper around more and early into the second half Berko managed to execute their plan. Some patient build up play and a ball into Allam he turned sharply and fired the ball low into the corner..
Berkhamsted had the upper hand but Blueharts still threatened. Jay was forced in to save a low down to his right from a penalty corner and then moments later sent the Blueharts forward cartwheeling through the air before clearing the ball.
Berkhamsted now had control and were passing the ball with more confidence.
Pete then found Oli who had pulled just wide of the goal drawing the keeper towards him and with a sharp pass across the face of goal found Tom who stroked the ball into an open goal.
The game finished Berkhamsted 2 Blueharts 0. A fantastic way to end what has turned out to be an incredible season led expertly by Pete. A big thank you must go to Robin and Nick who umpired the game very well.
