The Men’s 3s turned out this Saturday determined to  face what they knew would be yet another tough game, this time at home (hurrah!) in the rain (boo!) against a lively Letchworth team.

Captain Ed’s pre match team talk set the tone, with high hopes of putting last week’s Bonfire Night dampner behind them :  after a slow start  but with their captain’s  dulcet tones still ringing in their ears, Berko went ahead with a strike from the top of the D,  the ball finding the net from a defender’s deflection.  Letchworth weren’t going to let Berko have things their own way though, and despite maintaining a good high press, the opposition broke down our right side to score the equaliser.     A few minutes later, Berko let their guard down, unfortunately resulting in a second goal for the visitors from an overload in the D shortly before half time.
Captains were called over at half time for words of advice from umpires Pete and Jo, instructing both teams to dampen their players ‘enthusiasm’  and vocal contributions to match that of the damp and drizzly Tring weather.
The second half was an even affair with chances from both sides, until  Berko managed their second goal -  this time from a short corner, with Nav quick to pick up the rebound and put the ball away.   It was clear that Berko weren’t going to settle for a draw, continuing to put pressure on the Letchworth defence but to no avail.  That was until Nav showed great “skillage”  in the D, by taking on 2 defenders before finding the left corner of the net, giving the 3s their second win of the season!!
