We started the first half strongly, our passing and our communicating strong and showed up Amersham quickly. We had them on the ropes and they knew it however against the run of play they scored a scrappy goal putting them up 1 nil. Although this was annoying the lads kept their heads up and the game resumed. Jack had a cracking shot, putting the ball right into the back post, unfortunately nobody was there to pick it up and he had volleyed the ball from outside of the D. It was a similar story through the rest of the second quarter until Paul Krafft got caught up in the D, giving away a penalty flick, putting us at 0-2. 5 minutes towards the end of the second quarter, Pete Allam took the ball all the way, defending pushes and all attempts to stop him, putting the ball into the net to make us 2-1 before quickly subbing off as his work for his half was done (and he needed some oxygen).
The second half starts and we know we are still in the game and all is to play for. The ball stayed in our half as Amersham began to press harder and harder feeling the pressure from our side. They scored another scrappy goal to put us behind 2 and leaving the score as 1-3. This was a big blow but we kept our heads up. Ethan and Morris were pushing hard, making some great tackles to give us attempts to attack their 25. A brilliant ball comes through and Baz comes in and scored, getting us up to 3-2 with 10 minutes left to go.
In the final 5-10 minutes we press their 25 well, a change of mindset knowing that we were still in for at least a draw. We were working hard and everyone was putting in a shift allowing us to get a few opportunities to attack their D but sadly the whistle went and it’s a loss. 3-2.
